At the heart of the Microsoft Dynamics RMS EPOS Software is a powerful built-in stock management system that allows you clearly define and group each product and service you sell. You will be able to code and price each item individually. You can assign a supplier or multiple suppliers per item and track re-order codes and costs for each.

Items in the butcher / meats section are also coded in the database and normally sold per pack / piece or per kg. Where items are weighed, RMS Store Operations allows items to be defined by the kilo, so the exact weight of meat can be tracked as it is sold.

The EPOS Terminal and point of sale software from Microsoft Dynamics can be linked to a weighing scale that is approved and stamped for trade use. This allows the product to be placed on the scale and the weight automatically fed into the EPOS software and price calculated. RMS also supports stand-alone weighing scales that produce labels. Here, the product is placed on the scale and the product is looked up on the scale.

The scale then calculates the price and prints a label that is affixed onto the product. This scenario is ideal for slightly larger farm stores and butchers where the customer will have the product weighed and then carry on shopping before finally arriving at the checkout. The product label features a "price embedded bar-code" that contains the product identifier and price all within the one bar code, so again, the Microsoft Dynamics point of sale software automatically loads up the correct product, sets the correct price and quantity so there are no mistakes at the check-out.

RMS Store Operations point of sale software can link to various accounts packages including Sage and Microsoft Great Plains (GP), as well as outputting generic file formats that can be processed by other packages. It allows you to clearly define nominal chart of accounts codes as part of the accounts integration. Alternatively, the various RMS "Active" reports can be configured to show the information desired by your accounts team and information can be exchanged electronically in CSV/XML/PDF and other file formats.

RMS offers various out-of-the-box promotions; from Buy One Get One Free, to period discounts and buy-downs. Items may also be part of a mix and match program. Discounts may also be given by customer or customer group, either setting a discount percentage or specific price for a given product. Employee discounts can be easily managed. And of course, certain products can be excluded from discounts and promotions.

Customer loyalty is key - RMS features a powerful customisable customer database out of the box, allowing you to track customer details, and their purchase history. Details may be exported to mail-shot programs, marketing houses and e-mailing software. For farm shops that wish to operate a Customer Loyalty Scheme, our Advanced Customer Loyalty Program Manager Add-in builds upon the native functionality within Dynamics RMS.
